Workshops and Presentations

Flyer - Spanish Workshop

Project Title: In English: “Pocket Finance for a Better Life”

In Spanish: "Finanzas de Bolsillo para una Mejor Vida"

Brief Description of the Project: These financial literacy workshops are designed to empower the marginalized Hispanic communities residing in Hendricks and surrounding counties within Indiana. These communities often face precarious circumstances marked by unstable employment, low median income, and food insecurity. We aim to provide them with the tools and knowledge to effectively manage their limited resources.

To fill a gap in existing financial literacy opportunities, both 2.5-hour workshops will be conducted entirely in Spanish by experts in the field. The primary presenter is Marcelo Pastore, a Fulbright Scholar from Paraguay. Hosted by the ISU Center for Economic Education, these workshops are scheduled for May 16 and 20, running from 5:00 to 7:30 pm at MADE @ Plainfield. Each day will feature two sessions, separated by a complimentary dinner.

The workshops will equip attendees with indispensable skills and strategies to bolster their savings capabilities and exercise better control over their daily expenditures, leading to improved financial stability and well-being. Funding for this initiative is made possible by contributions from the Secretary of State via the Indiana Council for Economic Education, and the ISU Office for Community Engagement.
